Mais j’ai été emprisonné et les croisements ont pris une nouvelle ampleur, plus menaçante, dans laquelle sont englués non seulement les éleveurs, mais aussi le principal usurpateur de pouvoir et imposteur dans le domaine de l’élevage de chevaux…”.

Kyarizov
Geldy Kyarizov (né en 1951 ~ République socialiste soviétique de Turkménistan) est un éleveur de chevaux Akhal-Teke de renommée internationale et ancien ministre des chevaux du gouvernement du Turkménistan (Association gouvernementale Turkmen Atlary)[1][2].
En 2002, Kyarizov a été arrêté par l’administration de Saparmurat Niyazov pour abus de pouvoir et négligence, un procès reconnu par la communauté internationale comme étant sans fondement et politiquement motivé[3][14] .Kyarizov a été condamné à six ans d’emprisonnement. Libéré en 2007, Kyarizov a quitté le Turkménistan en 2015 et réside aujourd’hui en exil, à Prague, en République tchèque[4][5][6]. [4][5][6]
En 2024, après des années de bataille juridique avec le Turkménistan, le Comité des droits de l’homme des Nations unies a rendu une décision historique en juillet 2024, reconnaissant les graves violations de ses droits par l’État turkmène[7][8][9][15][21].
Défenseur de longue date des Akhal-Teke, Kyarizov a joué un rôle déterminant dans leur rétablissement après l’éclatement de l’Union soviétique en 1991 et l’indépendance du Turkménistan. Reconnu pour son rôle, le président turkmène de l’époque, Saparmurat Niyazov, a invité Kyarizov à rejoindre son gouvernement en tant que ministre des chevaux (1997-2002), transformé par la suite en Agence d’État de l’Atlantide turkmène[01][04].
Chargé d’établir un livre des origines de l’Akhal-Teke à l’aide d’analyses ADN, Kyarizov a découvert que du sang de pur-sang avait été introduit dans la race de l’Akhal-Teke, notamment à des fins de course. La décision de Kyarizov de rendre cette information publique a été perçue comme une menace pour l’establishment de l’élevage de chevaux, qui profitait des croisements, et lui a valu de tomber en disgrâce auprès du gouvernement de Niyazov[12].
En janvier 2002, Kyarizov a été arrêté par le ministère de la sécurité nationale (MNS). Condamné à six ans de prison en avril 2002, il a été transféré en août 2006 dans une prison à régime strict (Owadan-depe). Les plaintes de Kyarizov concernant son emprisonnement et son transfert illégaux sont restées sans réponse. Le directeur de la prison a dit à Kyarizov qu’il n’avait pas le droit de se plaindre, qu’il n’avait ni nom ni prénom, et à partir de ce moment-là, il a été connu sous le nom de “No. 3”. Kyarizov a été libéré en 2007 par le successeur de Niyazov, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow[01][04].
Après sa libération, Kyarizov et les membres de sa famille ont fait l’objet d’une surveillance constante, son téléphone a été mis sur écoute et sa correspondance a été censurée. Les biens de Kyarizov ont été confisqués et ses chevaux emmenés au haras présidentiel. Interdit de quitter le Turkménistan[16] et exclu de la communauté des éleveurs de chevaux, Kyarizov a passé les années suivantes à lutter contre l’État turkmène pour obtenir réparation[01][04][19].
Après sa libération, Kyarizov est resté en très mauvaise santé et a eu besoin de soins spécialisés urgents, mais il lui a été interdit de quitter le pays. Il a finalement été autorisé à voyager le 14 septembre 2015, mais sa fille Sofia et sa belle-sœur se sont vu refuser l’autorisation de partir. Sous la pression internationale, les autorités ont cédé six jours plus tard et, le 20 septembre 2015, sa fille et sa belle-sœur ont rejoint leur famille à Moscou[19][20].
Kyarizov et sa famille se sont installés dans la Fédération de Russie en 2015 et en République tchèque en avril 2016, où ils ont obtenu le statut de réfugié[8].
En 2015, Kyarizov a été nommé membre de la Royal Geographic Society et membre de la Long Riders’ Guild, une association internationale d’explorateurs équestres basée à Zurich, en Suisse[25].
En 2017, Kyarizov, son épouse Yulia Serebryannik et sa belle-sœur Diana Serebryannik ont créé l’association Rights and Freedoms of Turkmenistans Citizens (Droits et libertés des citoyens turkmènes). L’objectif de RFTC est de faire respecter les droits et les libertés des citoyens du Turkménistan. RFTC est membre de Boost, un programme régional d’accélération pour les innovateurs à impact social en Europe et en Asie centrale. Boost est un programme de développement des Nations Unies[27].
Le 9 juillet 2024, le Comité des droits de l’homme des Nations Unies a rendu sa décision concernant Geldy Kyarizov contre l’État du Turkménistan (CCPR/C/141/D/3097/2018). Une plainte a été déposée en réponse à des violations flagrantes des droits de l’homme de Kyarizov, y compris la détention illégale, la torture et la confiscation de ses biens. Après un examen approfondi, le Comité a conclu que le Turkménistan est tenu d’indemniser pleinement Kyarizov. Kyarizov s’est vu attribuer 7 000 000 000 USD. Le Turkménistan n’a pas encore procédé à la restitution[21].

D’Achgabat à Moscou
En 1988, Kyarizov a parcouru à dos d’Akhal-Teke la distance d’Achgabat à Moscou, soit plus de 4 000 kilomètres (dont 370 km dans le désert aride du Karakum) en deux mois, soit 24 jours de moins que le précédent record établi en 1935[10]. Dans les deux cas, il s’agissait d’alerter les autorités soviétiques sur le déclin de la race et de démontrer son exceptionnelle endurance[4][11][12][13]
Yanardag
Yanardag (Turkmène : Ýanardag/Янардаг “Montagne ardente”) est un étalon Akhal-Teke né au haras de Kyarizov en 1991, l’année de l’indépendance du Turkménistan de l’Union soviétique. Yanardag figure au centre des armoiries du Turkménistan. Nommé champion du monde Akhal-Teke en 1999, Yanardag a ensuite été acquis par Saparmurat Niyazov[6][14] En octobre 2013, le Turkménistan a annoncé son intention de créer un monument en l’honneur du cheval préféré de Niyazov. Le monument doré de Yanardag a été inauguré en 2014 à Achgabat[23][24]. [23][24]
Akhal-Teke et génomes mitochondriaux.
La recherche publiée en juin 2024 par l’intermédiaire de l’Institut multidisciplinaire de publication numérique (CH) et du National Center for Biotechnology Information (USA) confirme des études antérieures suggérant une généalogie remontant potentiellement à 3 000 ans.
L’étude a analysé l’ADN de restes de chevaux déterrés dans les tombes de Shihuyao(44,09° N, 86,05° E). Ces restes datent des dynasties Han et Tang dans le Xinjiang, en Chine (il y a environ 2200 à 1100 ans). Deux génomes mitochondriaux de haute qualité ont été acquis et analysés par séquençage de nouvelle génération.
Une affinité génétique étroite a été observée entre le cheval de la dynastie Tang et les chevaux Akhal-Teke selon l’haplotype G1 du cheval primitif. Des preuves historiques suggèrent que l’ancienne route de la soie a joué un rôle essentiel dans leur diffusion. En outre, l’histoire matrilinéaire du cheval Akhal-Teke a été consultée et suggère que la domestication précoce de la race était à des fins militaires.
Cette étude représente la première identification de la position nucléotidique originale de l’Akhal-Teke chez les chevaux anciens de Chine. Une voie de dispersion possible des lignées maternelles Akhal-Teke a également été découverte, étayée par l’histoire des échanges commerciaux et culturels étendus le long de la Route de la Soie. Cela suggère que la demande de chevaux militaires a joué un rôle important dans la domestication précoce de l’Akhal-Teke dans ce contexte historique particulier[26].

En 1993, Niyazov a offert au Premier ministre britannique de l’époque, John Major, un Akhal-Teke appelé Maksat. Un diplomate britannique de l’ambassade de Moscou a été dépêché pour organiser une quarantaine. Après plusieurs heures d’attente, le diplomate plaida auprès de la réceptionniste en faveur des “pauvres chevaux turkmènes”, qui étaient “debout dans un wagon de chemin de fer depuis quatre jours et demi”, et obtint comme réponse “la triste histoire du perroquet de l’ambassadeur finlandais”, dont le sort n’a jamais été révélé[17][18].
